The ten song album will be released by Arts & Crafts accompanied by Lemire's eighty-eight page graphic novel published by Simon & Schuster Canada. Secret Path acknowledges a dark part of Canada’s history – the long-supressed mistreatment of Indigenous children and families by the residential school system – with the hope of starting our country on a road to reconciliation. In winter 2014, Gord and Mike brought the recently finished music to comic artist Jeff Lemire for his help illustrating Chanie’s story, bringing him and the many children like him to life. The music features Downie on vocals and guitars, with Drew and Hamelin playing all other instruments, except guest contributions by Charles Spearin (bass), Ohad Benchetrit (lap steel/guitar), Kevin Hearn (piano), and Dave “Billy Ray” Koster (drums). Recording took place over two sessions at the Bathouse in Bath, Ontario, November and December 2013. The stories Gord’s poems tell were fleshed into the ten songs of Secret Path with producers Kevin Drew and Dave Hamelin. Gord was introduced to Chanie Wenjack (miscalled “Charlie” by his teachers) by Mike Downie, his brother, who shared with him Ian Adams’ Maclean’s story from February 6, 1967, “The Lonely Death of Charlie Wenjack.” Gord Downie began Secret Path as ten poems incited by the story of Chanie Wenjack, a twelve year-old boy who died fifty years ago on October 22, 1966, in flight from the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School near Kenora, Ontario, walking home to the family he was taken from over 400 miles away. Proceeds from the sale of Secret Path will go to The Gord Downie Secret Path Fund for Truth and Reconciliation via The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation at The University of Manitoba. "Do we want to live in a haunted house the rest of our lives?” - Joseph Boyden The next hundred years are going to be painful as we come to know Chanie Wenjack and thousands like him – as we find out about ourselves, about all of us – but only when we do can we truly call ourselves, "Canada." I have always wondered why, even as a kid, I never thought of Canada as a country – It’s not a popular thought you keep it to yourself – I never wrote of it as so. Because at the same time that aboriginal people were being demeaned in the schools and their culture and language were being taken away from them and they were being told that they were inferior, they were pagans, that they were heathens and savages and that they were unworthy of being respected - that very same message was being given to the non-aboriginal children in the public schools as well…They need to know that history includes them.” (Murray Sinclair, Ottawa Citizen, May 24, 2015) I am trying in this small way to help spread what Murray Sinclair said, “This is not an aboriginal problem. This is a Canadian problem. It will take seven generations to fix this. We weren’t taught it it was hardly ever mentioned.Īll of those Governments, and all of those Churches, for all of those years, misused themselves. “White” Canada knew – on somebody’s purpose – nothing about this. We are all accountable, but this begins in the late 1800s and goes to 1996. We are not the country we thought we were. I never knew Chanie, the child his teachers misnamed Charlie, but I will always love him.Ĭhanie haunts me. He didn’t know where it was, nor know how to find it, but, like so many kids - more than anyone will be able to imagine - he tried. Mike Downie introduced me to Chanie Wenjack he gave me the story from Ian Adam’s Maclean’s magazine story dating back to February 6, 1967, “The Lonely Death of Charlie Wenjack.”Ĭhanie was a young boy who died on October 22, 1966, walking the railroad tracks, trying to escape from the Cecilia Jeffrey Indian Residential School to walk home.

You know, 'Automatics', 'Pistols', 'Explosives', etc. The only real beef I have with the multiplayer is that while there are some incredible weapons (Sentinel, AIMS-20, and others) they are all set in special 'Weapon Groups'. Most games run smoothly, with no hitch at all. This is in no way a deal breaker, though. Slowdown is nonexistent in single player, but on a large map with six bots and four players, it can rear its ugly head. There are points when the bots will get stuck in a wall, or score amazing 400 yard headshots, but for the most part, they are pretty fun opponents. Incredible map though.) The bot AI is.Adequate. (Note: one map Ravine, does not allow bots. Fun stuff.įour players are able to play, as well as up to six bots. There are also a plentiful amount of modes to try out on the maps. (And yes, Nightfire is on Xbox and PS2, but I have not tried it on either.) Although the map selection is a bit on the slim side, there are some serious classics here. And, if you didn't want the multiplayer, you need to sort out your priories, because the multiplayer is (for me, at least) the best FPSing the Gamecube can offer. Go figure.Īnyways, the single player can be fun, but admit it. Standouts include a 'sniping level' that is actually really fun because it involves stealth, as well as a level that involves escaping from a hostile-infested building, which is really fun because of its total disregard for stealth. It's all pretty solid, if not forgettable. From there on, it's mostly a strict shoot-em-up, with a few bland driving levels, some on-rails shooting, blah. It starts out well enough, with Bon d having to 'sneak into' a party in a castle. The story mode covers all of these, most at the same time. Sharp-dressed-spy-who-does-no-spying? Check. If you are even remotely familiar with James Bond, Nightfire will feel right at home. With Nightfire, EA still does not reach that bar.īut Nightfire is the closest they have ever been. Under the guidance of EA, 007 never really managed to even reach the bar set by Rare all those years before. For the most part, they have been disappointed. Ever since that N64 game, people have expected great video games from 007. If you've ever played it, then you know all the warm, fuzzy feelings that the name brings. Nightfire-Well worth the money, and then some. Top achievements during each mission earn players various cheats for use in both single and multiplayer modes. Making a return from Agent Under Fire are Bond "heroics," where players have the opportunity to pull off dramatic moves the suave spy is known for. Taking key elements from Bond's 40-year history in film and books, NightFire includes familiar enemies from 007's storied past as well as new characters created specifically for the game.īond will once again make use of a variety of gadgets to complete his objectives, some of which can be upgraded, with missions ranging from stealth assignments to all-out search-and-destroy affairs. Like Agent Under Fire, NightFire includes an original storyline as Bond embarks on missions taking place in the Austrian Alps, underneath the South Pacific, and even the depths of outer space to stop a megalomaniac named Rafael Drake. Developed by the same company responsible for The World Is Not Enough on the Nintendo 64, NightFire features a mixture of first-person shooting action and mission-based driving sequences from behind such sophisticated vehicles as the Aston Martin Vanquish. James Bond returns to battle evil on an international level in this follow-up to the best-selling Agent Under Fire. You cannot move a provisionally activated license. You can move a license to a new License Server or one that is already actively hosting another license. The BarTender License Server can host multiple licenses at the same time. You are allotted 4 significant activations. Using the Move License function does not. Activating and deactivating a license counts as a significant activation.Only one computer can host the license. There is no longer a separate application that manages this. All licensing administration has moved to the Administration Console. Here are some key things you need to know before moving your license: Test the two conflicting mods alone together in a fresh save before trying it with your actual saves.Understanding licensing and what to move in BarTender 2019 and laterĪdministering licenses has changed from previous versions. Make sure to create a backup of your favorite saves before loading up the game. And since unresolved/poorly-resolved mod conflicts can break stuff depending on the circumstances, I encourage you to: If you’re unsure, ask the creator(s) of one of the mods.Īs I said before, there are lots of conflicts that this strategy alone will not be able to fix. Rely on modders to address whether conflicts with other mods can be addressed this way (unless you have tuning experience in which case you might be able to determine whether or not this will work for yourself). Step 7: Add the files you want to load last to the Overrides folder. In Notepad, you can do ctrl S or click File > Save. Be careful with the slashes here the placement is important. If you named it “_Overrides” or something else be sure to reflect that. Long story short: this is usually in “Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4” on Mac and PC, but may be located elsewhere if you did an advanced install. If you’re unsure where this folder is, Crinrict has lots of good information on where to find it and what it contains here. The Mods folder will generate inside of your user files folder. Step 2: Navigate to your Mods folder in File Explorer or Finder This will make sure you have a Mods folder created, and that when you add mods to it, they’ll load in-game. Step 1: Run the game at least once and enable mods

Whereas numerology is the study of numbers as they are to decipher their symbolic meaning. For example, the twelve disciples, twelve tribes of Israel, and twelve apostles.īased on these definitions, the difference between numerology and gematria - in simple terms - is that gematria is the practice of assigning a numerical value to letters and words in the Hebrew alphabet to uncover hidden meanings within the text. In biblical terms, numerology is the study of how numbers used in scriptures have a symbolic meaning. Numerology, as a general definition is the study of numbers. What Is the Difference Between Numerology and Gematria? Because of the numerical value of the word in gematria, 18 has become a lucky number for many Jewish people. Using gematria, it can be uncovered that the word chai has a numerical value of 18 in the Mispar Gadol variation. An ancient version of gematria was a fully developed mathematical system that used words to reveal sums that they intended future readers to discover.Īn example of gematria is the word Hebrew word chai (חי), which means alive. The exact meaning drawn from gematria depends on a person's individual beliefs. However, the most common use of gematria is to obtain a more spiritual understanding of a religious text. Gematria is most commonly used within Jewish culture. Since then, it has been adopted by the Jewish culture and similar variations have been used in the Greeks isopsephy, Arabic abjad numerals, and English gematria. This type of coding practice was thought to be first used back in the 8th century BC. It is commonly used in Jewish culture to understand text, particularly within the Torah, on a deeper and more spiritual level. If you have an idea, complaint, or a request please inform me by email.Gematria is an alphanumeric code where letters and words in the Hebrew alphabet are assigned numbers, values, or calculations. * useful app I really recommend it above all the others. Ĭhief Executive Officer and President Joan Vogelesang stepped down in September 2014 after over 16 years at Toon Boom, and Paul Gardner was appointed as interim CEO. In 2012, Toon Boom was acquired by Corus Entertainment. Since the acquisition, the software has not been updated and can no longer be purchased. In 2009, Toon Boom acquired the British company Cambridge Animation Systems, developer of Animo. In 2006, Toon Boom acquired French company Pegs'n Co, developer of the 2D bitmap animation software called Pegs. It has since become Toon Boom Harmony.įounding President and Chief Executive Officer Jacques Bilodeau left the company in May 2003, and the company's board of directors appointed Chief Operating Officer Joan Vogelesang to take his place. Toon Boom Animation continued the development of USAnimation software which became Toon Boom Opus. That merger never took place, and USAnimation's studio changed its name to VirtualMagic Animation in 1996 and operated independently. Its animation production services were to be merged into CST Entertainment according to a premature press release from CST. TBS also offers the ability to import Illustrator AI and PDF files along with basic scanning and raster-to-vector conversion, so that you can make use of external drawings. In 1996, Toon Boom purchased the software development business of USAnimation studio. In addition, you can define set pens and fills to ensure consistency, and fills can be retrospectively changed wherever they appear. Alongside its core line-based path tools, shape-based brushes and interactive paint tool, TBS provides dedicated features for automatically and interactively closing gaps, for filling shapes created by multiple lines, for quickly painting multiple zones, for unpainting and so on. This is immediately apparent in TBS’s drawing capabilities. What it does do is offer dedicated users some extraordinary power. And TBS’s overly technical approach doesn’t do much to protect users from the inherent complexity either. By the time you’re dealing with a cut-out character animation with peg hierarchies for every limb and multiple phoneme cels for lip-synchronising, you need to know exactly what you’re doing. It sounds straightforward, but don’t be fooled – the end results of animation might look like child’s play but producing it is another matter. To animate a bird flying across a scene, for example, you create different cels for each wing position, set up their sequence and time onscreen in the exposure sheet and then attach the bird’s wing and body sequences to a peg that you then drag across the screen to animate. The key concepts here are cels, the equivalent of transparent overlays the exposure sheet, by which the onscreen display of cels is controlled and pegs, to which cel sequences can be attached and then automatically transformed over time. However, it’s important to realise that TBS is a very different beast to FutureSplash, based from the ground up on professional animation techniques. All other catalog content, including rules, regulations, course descriptions and prerequisites are effective only for the catalog’s denoted academic year. This 2023-2024 Catalog is effective summer 2023 through spring semester 2031. The academic program requirements of each catalog are effective for a period of eight academic years. Degrees and designations may be awarded under any catalog in effect on the date of degree or designation completion, provided that the catalog year is the same or subsequent to the year in which the student was first enrolled. Upon proper application and payment of fees, students will be awarded academic degrees and designations when the completion of the academic program requirements is verified by the relevant NMSU academic unit. In addition, each student is obligated to abide by the Academic Rules and Regulations as set forth in the Catalog, as well as the Student Social Code of Conduct, as set forth in the Student Handbook (available through the Dean of Students website). Each student is responsible for planning an academic program of study in compliance with university, community college, college and departmental requirements as set forth in the Catalog. To avoid wrong turns and lost time, each student must chart their own path, with the help of their academic advisors and this guidebook. The catalog contains three important parts: (1) the official listing of NMSU’s academic programs and their requirements, (2) a listing of the courses offered at NMSU with descriptions and prerequisites, and (3) other information essential for student success including many of the rules and regulations that govern the student’s academic journey at NMSU.Īs with any other journey, advance planning is essential. This catalog is the student’s guidebook to earning a degree or other academic credential. This study is the first report to describe the molecular characteristics of CAEV circulating in the Philippines. Molecular characterization of the CAEV gag gene is important for the development of a detection kit specific for the local strain of CAEV and the establishment of small ruminant lentivirus eradication programs in the Philippines. Based on amino acid sequence alignments, it is possible that the Philippine CAEV isolate is a new strain of CAEV, but it is also possible that it was already present in the country even before the start of goat importation. In addition, the Philippine CAEV isolate clustered in group B with the prototype caprine lentivirus. CAEV was detected using nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and new sets of primers were designed in order to amplify the gag gene, which is a highly conserved region of the viral genome. DNA sequence analysis showed homology of 86–93 % between Philippine CAEV and available CAEV sequences in GenBank. Caprine arthritis encephalitis virus (CAEV) causes caprine arthritis encephalitis syndrome, which is an emerging disease of goats in the Philippines. |
